Our school has long been a stand-out feature of our small village and is interwoven into Cudworth’s history.
Having stood for 120 years, our historic building has withstood two world wars and the footsteps of thousands of Cudworth’s children. Generations of the same family have been educated within our building, including some of our staff members! From the outside, very little has changed since 1901, yet on the inside our school is a modern, bright and exuberant place to learn. We are constantly looking at ways to develop school in new and exciting ways, including our Year 6 unit and enclosed astroturf pitch, state-of-the-art sensory room and TEACCH room. We are also very lucky to have our own sports hall, complete with stage and basketball court.
We are home to children from FS2 to Y6, with two classes in every year group, and a 12 place KS1 resourced provision known as the Waterton Assessment Centre for children with Speech, language and Communication needs. Our school has a capacity of 420, making Churchfield one of the largest schools in Barnsley. Most of our children enter FS2 from a variety of different settings in the local and wider area.
We have a consistent staffing team, with many staff members finding their place in the Churchfield family and dedicating themselves to the success of our incredible children and families. Our school community is a family, and our school building is a safe place and home. Every year we host many events where we open school up to our community, including open weekends, fayres, bingo nights, quiz nights, hot spaces, food banks, community groups and more.
